Spanish coach Miguel Angel, the new technical director of Al Wakrah team, confirmed his great happiness after coming to coach the team for a renewable season. The coach said in a video clip on Al Wakrah club’s official account, “I am happy to come to coach Al Wakrah team, and therefore I thank Al Wakrah and the board of directors for their confidence in being with the team. I am very excited about my experience with the team, and I know very well the size of the big challenges and the importance of achieving victories in all tournaments and coming out with positive results, in the league in addition to other local tournaments and the Asian Championship, and of course I am very excited about this experience, which will be wonderful.”
He added, “I know very well the size of the challenges, especially since the team will participate in the AFC Champions League, which is a very big tournament, and of course this is an important step to achieve the desired results in the tournament. I would also like to talk about the local issue. We want to continue the challenge in the Stars League and move forward. But at the same time, we must be present in the Asian Championship because it is an important tournament for the team and the State of Qatar.”
The coach stressed that it is important that the players and all employees in Al Wakrah feel happy and have a lot of fun with him, and we aim to fight in all matches for every title the team will participate in.”
Al-Wakrah Club had announced the appointment of the coach, starting from the new season, for a period of one season, subject to renewal, the day before yesterday, in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Khalifa bin Hassan Al Thani, Vice President of the Football Authority.
Miguel Angel, 39 years old, took over as coach of the Spanish Sporting Gijon in his last stop before his next experience with Al-Wakrah, and he succeeded in leading him to reach the qualifying stage of the first division of the Spanish League, while his coaching career began with the Spanish Club Las Palmas under-19 team during the period. From 2004 until 2009.
Next season, Al Wakrah is looking forward to continuing its distinguished run in the past season, during which it achieved the Qatar Cup title after defeating Al Rayyan in the final match, in addition to finishing fourth in the Qatari League with 38 points.
Al-Wakrah awaits many important awards during the next season, whether at the local level in the league and the Emir Cup, and the Qatar Cup if it is among the top four in the league table, or at the continental level with its participation in the AFC Champions League 2.
