The Qatar Financial Center announced that its Data Protection Office has obtained full membership in the World Privacy Association, during the forty-sixth general meeting of the association, which was held on Gracey Island, one of the Channel Islands in the United Kingdom.
The Qatar Financial Center said, in a statement, that this entitlement reflects the center’s efforts in applying the best international standards in data protection and privacy, noting that the establishment of the office and the implementation of the Qatar Financial Center’s data protection regulations and rules for the year 2021, which regulate the mechanism of processing personal data, had A major role in achieving this achievement.
He explained that these regulations include special rights and obligations for data subjects, which has greatly enhanced their compatibility with international best practices and standards in the field of data protection, as they contribute to ensuring the protection of the basic rights and legal interests of data subjects, and providing higher levels of protection and transparency when processing personal data.
The Center indicated that after the Data Protection Office obtained the seat of an observer member in the association in 2021, it will now join the global leaders in the field of data protection and privacy as an accredited member, which will consolidate the Office’s commitment to promoting global standards for data privacy, and consolidate the position of the State of Qatar as a major player in the scene.
