Professor Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population of the Arab Republic of Egypt, praised the efforts of the State of Qatar in the field of strengthening the public health system, at the regional and international levels, stressing that Qatar has become a leading destination for hosting prestigious international conferences and forums, which reflects its active and pioneering role in supporting health and medicine issues in general.
Abdel Ghaffar said, in exclusive statements to the Qatar News Agency (Qena) on the sidelines of his participation in the sixth ministerial global health summit, that Egypt’s participation in the summit aims to exchange visions and experiences and enhance partnerships in various areas of public health, noting that the State of Qatar showed a strong commitment to advance the wheel of progress in the health sector, in a way that contributes to improving the quality of the life of the population and supporting the process of sustainable economic development.
Regarding the prominent achievements made by the State of Qatar in the field of mental health, Abdel Ghaffar indicated that he visited a number of leading medical institutions in Doha, including the “Asbitar Hospital” specializing in orthopedics and sports medicine, and “Hamad Medical Corporation”, indicating that the remarkable expansion and increased investment in the health sector in Qatar reflects a strategic vision that provokes pride and pride.
The Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and the Egyptian Minister of Health and Population added that the inclusion of mental health is among the priorities of the Ministry of Public Health in Qatar, reflects an advanced awareness and in order to build an integrated health community, pointing to the existence of specialized centers to support mental health for children and families, which embodies the state’s interest in the care of the citizen and the resident alike.
With regard to health cooperation between Egypt and the State of Qatar, he said that the relations between the two brotherly countries are historic and established at all levels, noting that health is a key axis in this cooperation through the exchange of experiences and doctors, as well as the existence of a memorandum of understanding an expected understanding between the ministries of health in the two countries to enhance the areas of joint cooperation.
At the end of his statements, Abdel Ghaffar expressed his happiness to participate in this summit, which is hosted by the State of Qatar, stressing that its convening in Doha reflects the close coordination between the two countries in various fields, especially the health sector.
