The latest reports published by Forbes magazine revealed major upgrades to the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro, with new colors and features, including artificial intelligence technologies and software.
Apple will also add an Action Button to all iPhone 16 models, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports, as leaks continue about a month before Apple typically unveils its new devices in September.
“The big feature will be Apple Intelligence, the company’s new suite of AI software,” says Gurman, noting that it’s hard to know how useful this software will be and whether it will drive consumers to buy the new smartphone.
Gurman also said there will be a new camera control button on the right edge of the new iPhone 16, and noted that the screens may also get larger, although he’s not sure if that will be limited to the Pro and Pro Max models only.
He added that all iPhones to be released will have A18 processors and 8GB of RAM, which is essential for Apple’s AI software.
Bloomberg reported that Apple Intelligence services will be free at first, but subscription options may become available for those who want more AI capabilities on their devices.
Smartphone owners will have to upgrade to an iPhone 15 Pro or later if they want to use Apple Intelligence. Another tweak, Apple said at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June, will be to its virtual assistant Siri, which is supposed to get smarter with iOS 18.
