The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, organized a series of awareness seminars for school students under the title “The Little Innovator,” at Qatar Technical Secondary School for Boys and Al Kaaban Primary Preparatory Secondary School for Girls, with the program’s activities continuing until the end of the current academic year.

This initiative comes within the framework of the Ministry’s efforts to spread the culture of intellectual property among school students, develop their creative and innovative skills, and enable them to acquire practical and professional experiences that help them protect their inventions and ideas.

The symposium included introducing students to the “Beginner’s Guide,” which explains the most important concepts of intellectual property and its role in daily life, and its sections that include industrial property of various types, such as patents, trade names, industrial designs and models, and geographical indications, in addition to copyright and related rights.

During the symposium, the importance of protecting intellectual property rights and its role in supporting national industries and products, and promoting intellectual, artistic and technical development, was emphasized, which contributes to increasing rates of innovation and creativity at the national level.

The students also learned about the most prominent initiatives of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in the field of protecting intellectual property rights, and its efforts to develop an integrated electronic system in accordance with the highest international standards, allowing trademark owners, inventors, innovators, authors, and owners of related rights to preserve their rights and safeguard their works.

The activities concluded with the launch of the “Little Innovator” competition, which aims to motivate students to be creative and inventive. At the conclusion of the program, the entries will be evaluated and five winners will be selected to receive the title of “Little Innovator” and honored with moral and in-kind prizes in recognition of their distinguished efforts.
