The Palestinian team qualified for the 2027 Asian Cup finals and reached the decisive stage of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with a scoreless draw against its Lebanese counterpart, in the match that brought them together at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium at Al Sadd Club in the fifth round of the ninth group competitions in the joint Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup and 2027 Asian Cup finals. .

The Lebanese team responded with a header from George Melki that went over the crossbar in the 25th minute.
The two teams’ attempts continued for the rest of the first half without anything new, ending in a goalless draw.
In the second half, the Lebanese team was the best in terms of control and possession, as the team missed several opportunities in light of the brilliance of Palestinian goalkeeper Rami Saadeh.
Adi Kharoub was close to scoring on two occasions in the second half. The first was from a powerful shot that passed the right post in the 79th minute, then a follow-up cross into the penalty area, which the Lebanese goalkeeper excelled in clearing in the 90th + 4th minute.
