Mr. Badr bin Mohammed Al-Darwish, President of the Qatar Equestrian and Modern Pentathlon Federation, praised the qualification of the Qatar national team to the 2026 World Cup Stakes Finals, which are scheduled to be held in Jordan next November.
Al-Darwish said, in a special statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA): This historic achievement and well-deserved qualification to the World Finals clearly reflects the extent of development and leadership witnessed by Qatari equestrianism at all international and regional levels, indicating that this superiority represents a true extension of the Federation’s series of sporting achievements that have been achieved recently, especially in the recent Asian Games.
The President of the Federation stressed that this achievement would not have been achieved on the ground without the unlimited support given by the country’s wise leadership to the sports sector and athletes, and the continuous support that the Federation receives from the Qatar Olympic Committee headed by His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani.
Al-Darwish praised the exceptional performance and high spirit of the Al-Adam Knights during the qualifying playoff competitions hosted by the Sultanate of Oman, stressing that the Qatar Knights once again demonstrated that they possess the high ability and competence necessary to compete strongly, seize the lead, and overcome challenges in the most difficult circumstances and major forums.
He added that topping the podium and clinching the lead by points difference proves that the technical base of our riders is on an excellent upward curve, and heralds an honorable appearance in the next World Cup battlefield.
At the conclusion of his statement, Al-Darwish stressed that this excellence translates the success of the federation’s strategy based on sustainable development and focusing on refining the talents of the riders and preparing them with the best possible training plans to continue winning first places. He stressed the start of the phase of intensive preparation and hard work to represent the State of Qatar in an honorable way that befits the status of Qatari sports in the World Cup next month.
In turn, Sheikh Ahmed bin Noah Al Thani, Secretary General of the Qatar Equestrian and Modern Pentathlon Federation, confirmed that the Qatar National Team’s clinching of the direct qualification ticket to the 2026 World Cup Pegs Finals in Jordan did not come by chance, but rather came as a result of technical work and careful and continuous field planning throughout the past period.
Sheikh Ahmed said, in a similar statement to QNA, that the lead achieved by the Knights of Al-Adam in the playoffs in the Sultanate of Oman, and clinching first place with 414.50 points, reflects the extent of the tactical discipline and high mental focus that distinguished our knights against strong teams such as Iraq and Kuwait, and it is a natural extension of the progressive technical situation that began to appear since the qualifying stage in which the team occupied third place, which qualified it to enter the playoff.
He added that the great excellence of the Al-Adam riders, whether in the individual or team competitions throughout the tournament, confirms the Federation’s success in implementing intensive camp programs and providing strong contact for the riders, noting that these results prove that Qatari equestrian has a second class and a solid technical base capable of competing in the most difficult circumstances.
The Secretary General of the Qatari Federation explained that our role in the Federation focuses on working to transform the development strategy into a tangible reality, by creating an integrated training environment, selecting the best ready-made horses, and ensuring logistical coordination at the highest level, which has resulted in achieving this important achievement.
Regarding the next stage, Sheikh Ahmed bin Noah revealed the development of an intensive preparation program for the team during the next few weeks, with the aim of maintaining the physical and mental fitness of riders and horses, stressing that the Qatari ambition in the World Cup in Jordan next month will not be limited to honorary participation, but rather aims to truly compete for the first places and return with the best results to raise Qatar’s name high in the global forum.
