The Qatari delegation holds a breakfast banquet for the “International Navy” delegations

The Ministry of Communications announced that the permanent delegation of the State of Qatar to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) held a breakfast banquet for the delegations of the member states of the organization during their presence in Doha.
During the blessed month of Ramadan, this banquet strengthened the opportunities to exchange dialogue and ideas in achieving the safety, security and efficiency of maritime transport, and deepening the bonds of cooperation between delegations.
The permanent delegation of the State of Qatar to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) is the authority responsible for representing the State of Qatar in the organization, and works to enhance cooperation and coordination with other member states to achieve the safety, security and efficiency of maritime transport. In November 2023, the State of Qatar opened its permanent office at the headquarters of the International Maritime Organization in the British capital, London.
As for the International Maritime Organization (IMO), it is a specialized agency affiliated with the United Nations, responsible for organizing the international maritime transport sector, enhancing the safety and security of maritime navigation, and protecting the marine environment from pollution resulting from ships.
Among the most prominent roles of the International Maritime Organization (IMO): ensuring the safety of maritime navigation by developing agreements and standards to ensure the operation of ships safely and reduce marine accidents, issuing safety standards for ships and ports and maritime navigation operations.
Also protect the marine environment by setting strict regulations to reduce marine pollution resulting from marine shipping operations, such as the Marpol Agreement, and to encourage the use of clean technologies and sustainable energy in the marine sector.
In addition to improving the efficiency of international maritime transport by simplifying maritime trade procedures and enhancing cooperation between member states, developing international agreements to ensure smooth and safe operation of ships across the border.
In addition to enhancing maritime security and fighting piracy by setting strategies to combat piracy and maritime attacks, and support countries in implementing tight security measures to protect ships and ports.
The organization is also working to develop the workforce in the maritime sector by improving the standards of training and qualification of sailors to ensure high skills in the marine industry, and to implement the STCW standards agreement that defines training and certificates for workers at sea.
