His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of the Qatar Football Association, stressed the importance of strengthening the principles of consultation, mutual respect and institutional governance in a way that supports the unity and cohesion of Asian football.
He explained, in a press statement, that recent correspondence with the Asian Football Confederation raised questions regarding the mechanisms for formulating collective positions issued on behalf of member associations.
The statement stressed that the comments presented do not target specific people or positions, but rather focus on the necessity of involving member associations and allowing them to express their opinions when taking positions on behalf of the Asian system.
The Qatari Federation stressed that presenting this vision comes in a constructive and fraternal spirit, in a way that maintains respect for the AFC and its leadership, and contributes to strengthening governance, unity and credibility in football on the continent.
