Al-Arabi and Al-Khor fans were surprised by the participation of their Jordanian stars Yazan Al-Naimat and Iraqi Ayman Hussein with their countries’ teams in the matches between South Korea and Palestine last Thursday in the third round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
The two stars were not expected to participate, especially after Al-Naimat was injured in the last round against Palestine, and Ayman Hussein was injured in the Oman national team match in the first round.
According to the medical reports issued, Yazan Al-Naimat suffered a fracture in his rib at the chest level, and as a result it was announced that he would be absent from the stadiums for a period ranging from six to eight weeks, or about two months.
Ayman Hussein also suffered a bruise in the chest that led to internal bleeding that required surgical intervention. He was transferred to the hospital and his absence was confirmed for 45 days after he underwent surgery.
Despite these injuries, the cessation of training, and their absence from their teams in the matches that were held in the Arid Stars League, everyone was surprised by their participation. Indeed, Ayman Hussein played the entire match last Thursday against Palestine and scored the winning goal in the 31st minute and exited in the 88th minute of the match, while Yazan participated. Al-Naimat against South Korea from the first minute of the second half.
Everyone was of course amazed by the participation of the two stars, especially Yazan Al-Naimat, who was supposed to be absent for 8 weeks (two full months), so he participated and played the strong, important match against South Korea after only one month.
Ayman Hussein joined his country’s national team camp after a statement issued by his club, Al-Khor, that he would return to matches gradually and not from the beginning, as happened in the Palestine match.
This unexpected participation raised many questions from fans about the clubs’ right to maintain the safety and health of their professional players, who cost their clubs a lot of financial costs.
There is no doubt that rushing to introduce players early before the complete completion of treatment is extremely dangerous and threatens the interests of Al Arabi, Al Khor and any other club and doubles the possibility of them being exposed to renewed injury.
The questions are also due to the fact that the players, especially Yazan Al-Naimat, have not played any matches in the league yet, whether with his former club, Al-Ahly, or his current club, Al-Arabi, while Ayman Hussein was absent in the last three matches. The matter requires a pause and the necessity of understanding and harmony between the clubs and teams that care about their interests and must. At the same time, it must take care of the interests of the clubs, the interests of its players, and their health, and not expose them to the risk of returning to play early after an injury without a full and complete recovery.
Perhaps what the French national team coach did is the greatest evidence of this matter. The French coach refused to call up the team’s captain and first star, “Mbappe,” even though he played a match with his club last week (part of the second half) after returning from injury for his comfort and out of consideration for the interests of his club.
