Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, stressed the need to protect hospitals, after Israel targeted a hospital campus and a school in central Gaza, which housed displaced civilians.

This came in a post on the X platform, today, Tuesday, in response to Israel’s bombing of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Gaza.

Ghebreyesus said that terrible reports came from Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Gaza following the Israeli army bombing.

He pointed out that people who took refuge in the hospital were killed, and some of them suffered serious burns.

He added, “Hospitals should be places of treatment and safety,” stressing the need to protect them. He added, “We once again call for an end to the attacks. We call for peace.”

At dawn on Monday, 5 Palestinians were martyred and about 65 others were injured, in an Israeli bombing that targeted tents for the displaced in the courtyard of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, which led to the outbreak of a large fire that affected about 30 tents.
