The indoor track in Aspire witnessed a distinguished launch of the competitions of the first round of the 2026 women’s track running races, organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation, under the umbrella of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, as part of the ongoing efforts to enhance women’s participation in sports and community activities. The first round was distinguished by the participation of more than 220 competitors from different age groups, women and girls, as the race competitions began at eight o’clock in the morning and by dividing the distances into time categories that take into account different ages. The duration of the races ranged between 15 and 30 minutes for the women’s category, aged 17 years and above, and 10 minutes for the junior women’s category, aged 7 to 17 years, while a 5-minute race was held for young girls, aged 3 to 6 years. This diversity aims to provide the opportunity for the largest number of participants, as the competition system depends on completing the largest possible number of laps within the time specified for each category, in order to ensure equal opportunities.
On the sidelines of the race, a sports and entertainment program was held, which included light warm-up exercises, and various sports activities and games, under the supervision of specialized female trainers, with the aim of providing an integrated sports experience for the participants, through a series of sports events and activities designated for women. Track races have become a sports platform that enhances family participation, reflects the positive impact of events designated for women, and establishes the concept of sports as a way of life and brings together members of the family. The race series includes four rounds held during the month of June, on the Aspire Indoor Track for days. 7, 13, 20 and 26, to give participants a unique sporting experience, in an air-conditioned environment suitable for running during the summer.
Mr. Abdullah Al-Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, said that the first round of the women’s track races series received a large turnout from mothers and their daughters, which confirms the growing awareness of the importance of running and its role in promoting public health and active lifestyles. These races represent an important station on the agenda of women’s sports events organized by the Federation, and aim to provide an integrated sports environment that meets women’s aspirations and enhances their participation in sports and community activities.
