Through ceramic works by artists from Qatar and Indonesia … “sailing over time” explores human development

“Liwan”, designing studios and laboratories, opened yesterday the exhibition “Sailing Over time”, which includes ceramic works, which were carried out by artists from Qatar and Indonesia, to explore the topics of human development, joint history, and personal transformations through a ceramic cut inspired by the craft inheritance in the two countries.
The exhibition focuses on the works that were carried out during the “Technical Residence of Treasures” program in Liwan over the month of August, and presented by the Indonesian artist Francisca Busbastodibi, known as “Kika”, and the body of the spirit of friendship and artistic dialogue that the Cultural Years Program is keen on, which combines societies through crafts and cooperation, where the program contributed to the development of the legacy of the cultural year Qatar – Indonesia 2023, for his commitment to building bonds that extend beyond one year.
A dialogue session will be held tomorrow, “Monday”, on the sidelines of the exhibition, at the headquarters of “Liwan”, with the participation of the artists participating in the exhibition, namely: “Kika”, Princess of Namiya, and Asia Limzal, Isori Ashni Peres, Leila Nour, Norman Baskuro, and Sarah Al -Muhannadi, where they will talk about their creative experiences and sources of inspiration.
The exhibition, which continues until September 10, is organized in cooperation with the Cultural Years Initiative, to confirm the role of cultural exchange in promoting innovation and dialogue and building bridges of communication between Qatar and Indonesia.
The Indonesian artist Francisca Busbetastodibi, “Kika”, who presented the “Technical Residence for Treasures”, is known as an artist who uses porcelain as an artistic mediator to integrate her deep societal sense into modern artistic forms, and she previously supervised the activities of the “Indonesian workshop” in Qatar within the activities of the cultural year Qatar – Indonesia 2023 The public has an opportunity to score their own works and discover new techniques in the art of ceramics.
The interactive and comprehensive “Kika” approach removes the traditional crafts and opens the door for people to use the clay as a broker for narrative and cultural exchange.
