“Transportation”: 4,767 maritime transport transactions completed in the second quarter

The Ministry of Transport announced the completion of 4,767 service transactions related to maritime transport affairs during the second quarter of this year. This came in a statistical statement published by the ministry yesterday on its official social media accounts, which included the most prominent services provided to maritime vehicles (registration, renewal, and transfer of ownership), in addition to approving the qualification certificates for marine officers, marine engineers, and safe crewing.
Services for foreign ships operating in Qatari waters have also been completed, which include a package of services such as: requesting transfer of ownership, obtaining a certificate of navigational fitness, and others.
In the same context, the Ministry of Transport launched a package of new digital services in the maritime transport sector, specializing in small ship transactions, as part of its efforts towards digital transformation and automation of the services it provides, which contributes to achieving excellence in performance, speeding up the completion of transactions, and simplifying procedures.
The list of new services available to the public on the Ministry of Transport’s website includes nine services: (small vessel registration service, vessel registration renewal service, vessel specification modification service, lost replacement service, vessel deletion service, owner sequence certificate issuance service, mortgage service, mortgage release service, and ownership modification service), in addition to the marine media cards delivery service via Qatar Post. These services will enable the public to submit their requests from anywhere and around the clock, saving time and effort.
It is worth noting that the Maritime Transport Sector at the Ministry of Transport seeks to modernize and develop the maritime transport sector in a manner that keeps pace with the rapid international maritime developments through the creative application of international maritime conventions and following up on any new developments thereof, within the framework of the Ministry’s strategic plan that aims to ensure safe maritime navigation and that all maritime safety conditions are met.
The maritime transport sector also works on developing the legal framework regulating maritime operations, and enhancing technical and administrative work in the areas of inspection, examination, control, and accident investigation, among others. The maritime transport sector places at the top of its priorities ensuring the quality of maritime transport services and means by spreading the culture of quality and raising awareness of the best international standards and practices, and developing a system of procedures for supplementary inspections of ships with the aim of ensuring that all ships comply with international requirements for safety and safe navigation. As part of the efforts made by the sector to achieve its strategic objectives in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, the maritime transport sector is also keen to coordinate with the International Maritime Organization and follow up on its published agreements and publications, and to show flexibility in conducting continuous reviews of national legislation to be in line with relevant international legislation in a manner that serves the vision and interests of the State of Qatar.
