UEFA has reduced the maximum ticket price for visiting fans in the Champions League for the new season to 60 euros, with plans to reduce it next season as well, according to what was announced yesterday.
The continental body said that “after extensive consultation” with the European Club Association and the European Football Supporters’ Association, it had decided to reduce the maximum price, which had been 70 euros for the past two seasons, for visiting fans.
The host teams, for whom the Champions League brings in a lot of money from ticket sales as well as prize money and TV rights, will have to lower this ceiling next season as well, to 50 euros.
The same applies to the other two continental competitions, the Europa League and the Conference League, as the maximum in the former will be reduced to 40 euros this season and then 35 in the next, compared to 45 in the last two editions, while in the latter it will be reduced to 20 euros for this season and the next, after it was 25 last season.
“By introducing more fan-friendly policies, we continue our mission to ensure that football remains an inclusive sport, where fans who travel across Europe to follow their teams are valued,” said UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin, Slovenian.
