Qatar Tourism announced today the establishment of a partnership with the International Federation of Marine Racing and the United Development Company, to host the first edition of the Visit Qatar E1 Electric Powerboat Championship – Doha next year.
Visit Qatar stated, in a statement, that the Visit Qatar E1 Grand Championship – Doha will be one of the most prominent events on the 2025 racing schedule, as it will witness the start of the first electric speedboat race in the Middle East.
The Corinthia Yacht Club on The Pearl Island will host a series of races within the E1 Championship, where teams will compete for the title of water champions, which will enhance Qatar’s position as a destination for electric powerboat sports in the region.
The innovative electric speedboat race, Race Bird, is scheduled to be held on February 21 and 22, 2025 on the Pearl Island in Doha.
Engineer Abdulaziz Ali Al-Mawlawi, CEO of Visit Qatar, said: “Through our partnership with E1, Visit Qatar will attract a new sports tournament to the country, which will enrich its sports scene,” stressing that Qatar will continue to strengthen its sports infrastructure and host international tournaments. The largest stadium that attracts fans from all over the world, as it has a great sporting heritage thanks to its proven record in hosting and supporting major international tournaments.
He added that Qatar has become the capital of global sports, especially after it successfully succeeded in hosting the 2022 World Cup, the Club World Cup, and the Asian Football Cup, to name a few, in addition to its readiness to host the Basketball World Cup in 2027, and the 2030 Asian Games, which are… All of them are tournaments that confirm Qatar’s readiness in terms of advanced infrastructure, organizational capabilities, and commitment to excellence.

The World Electric Powerboat Championship (E1) is the first electric powerboat racing championship in the world to be accredited by the International Federation of Marine Racing (UIM), which is the international body entrusted with the responsibility of supervising powerboat racing.
The championship will include eight races around the world, with Doha being a stop for one of these rounds.
