Vodafone Qatar confirmed that the instant self-activation SIM it launched is part of the company’s plan to provide the Qatari market with a number of innovative products to enhance customer experience and enable them to control when and how to activate their services on their smartphones. This came during a roundtable organized by the company in the presence of a number of journalists and Qatari media outlets, to provide more information about the instant self-activation SIM, the latest innovative mobile technology launched by Vodafone, in the presence of the company’s executive team.

The media meeting highlighted more advantages and features of the new product, which provides communication benefits from anywhere in Qatar and at any time in a few seconds, whether through prepaid packages or monthly subscriptions. A team from the company also explained the steps and how to use this innovative chip, as the activation process is characterized by simplicity and ease. All users will have to do is insert the new SIM card into their smartphones, then scan the QR code and they can then choose the type of their package, whether prepaid or monthly subscription. Prepaid customers will need their passports, and for monthly subscription packages, they will be asked to enter their Qatari ID number.

Mr. Mohammed Mohsen Al Yafei, Head of Public Sector Sales at Vodafone Qatar, said that the instant and self-activating SIM is worth only 10 riyals and provides citizens, residents and visitors to the State of Qatar with the advantages of calling through prepaid packages or monthly subscriptions in a few seconds, anytime and anywhere. He pointed out that it will enhance the experience of visitors coming to the State of Qatar through its availability at Hamad International Airport, taxis and hotels. It can also be obtained through 2,600 points of sale, in addition to its availability on electronic delivery platforms, including Talabat and Snow Mart, around the clock, and its activation is easy and without the need to connect to the Internet.
“We know that the number of tourists coming to the country has increased significantly after hosting the 2022 World Cup, and as a telecommunications company, we aspire to enhance their experience when coming to Qatar. The new SIM card helps them enjoy their visit without the hassle of searching for a store to buy a SIM card because it is self-activating and instantaneous, and does not require any human intervention,” Al Yafei added in statements to Al Arab on the sidelines of the meeting.
Vodafone Qatar’s Head of Public Sector Sales pointed out that the new AI-powered instant SIM works with AI-integrated Electronic Know Your Customer (EKYC) technology, making its activation process easy and simple. All the customer has to do is insert the new SIM into their smartphone, then scan the available QR code. From there, they can choose the package type, whether prepaid or monthly.
Al Yafei explained that customers can also choose the type of SIM card, whether it is physical (physical SIM) or electronic (e-SIM), and choose the number that suits them, whether it is free or special (STAR), according to the package they choose.
Al Yafei also mentioned that the company is about to launch a number of innovative products in the coming period to enhance the customer experience and use modern technologies in the field of communications.

Simon O’Rourke, Consumer Business Unit Director at Vodafone Qatar, said: “We are proud to launch the new instant SIM and hope that it will contribute to changing the preferred method of communication for residents and visitors of Qatar, as we strive to provide the best communication services to customers.”
