Instant messaging platform WhatsApp has introduced updates to video calls to improve the user experience.
The official WhatsApp Beta blog explained today that users can now enjoy augmented reality call effects and filters, adding a fun and interactive element to their video calls.
WhatsApp users can personalize their calls by enabling dynamic face filters such as a retouch tool to smooth the appearance of skin and a low-light mode to improve visibility in dim environments.
The platform also offers a background editing tool, which is ideal for group conferences, where users may want to adjust their surroundings or blur distractions. Users can also choose one of the available virtual backgrounds, allowing them to change their backgrounds to different scenes or images.
The AR call effects and filters feature is available to some beta testers who install the latest WhatsApp beta update on Android, and will be rolling out to more people in the coming weeks.
