Instant messaging platform WhatsApp has developed a new feature called Security Check, which aims to enhance account security settings and protect users’ privacy.
This feature allows users to disallow people from taking screenshots of profile pictures, ask for passkeys, allow users to control who uses their avatar in stickers and more, and helps users quickly review and improve their security settings, providing additional layers of protection for their accounts, while simplifying the process of managing account security.
With this feature, users will be able to access and configure many important security options easily from one screen, and it will allow users to set up a passkey to unlock the app, log in to WhatsApp using biometric data, or lock the screen from one place, while they are currently distributed across several places within the settings.
Additionally, this feature allows users to add an email to their accounts, making it easier to recover the account if the user is unable to receive verification codes via SMS.
It is expected that this feature will be available in the latest experimental update of the WhatsApp application on the Android system, which is now available on the Play Store, and it will be released to everyone in a future update.
