The Coca -Cola Filling Company in Belgium announced on Monday the withdrawal of large quantities of its products in Europe due to the high percentage of chlorine.
These products include returning packages and bottles of Coca -Cola, Spare, Vanata, Vioz T, Minit Meed, Nalo, Royal Place and Tropico, in Belgium, the Netherlands, Britain, Germany, France and Luxembourg have been circulating since the end of November.
“We do not have a specific number, but it is clear that it is a large amount,” said Coca -Cola Europasivic Partners Belgium “.
“Most of the relevant and non -sold products were withdrawn from the shelves of the stores, and we are continuing to take measures to withdraw all the remaining products from the market,” she said, noting that they are “in contact with the competent authorities in all the relevant markets.”
The company, which offended an apology, asked customers not to consume the relevant products that can be returned to the sale point to recover the amounts that were paid for their purchase.
These products carry a “production code ranging from 328 Gee to 338 GE”.
“On our production site in Ghanna, we conduct tests as part of our organizational monitoring and compliance procedures. These tests have set high levels of chlorine,” the company said.
According to the website of the European Commission, the chlorine in the food comes from chlorine antiseptics used in water treatment and food manufacturing, with drinking water the largest contributing to it.
In a scientific research released in 2015, the European Food Safety Authority estimated that exposure to chloronals in the long -term food could constitute a possible health problem in children, especially those who suffer from iodine deficiency.
