The World Table Table Championship is one of the oldest championships and the most important sporting events in this sport that made stars and immortalized nations, and its journey began in the 1920s to become one of the most prominent sporting events that bring together a group of the most prominent players and players from all over the world.

The first official version of the World Table Championship in 1926 was launched in the British capital, London, organized by the International Tennis Federation (ITF), which was established in the same year.

On the level of the most prominent table players throughout the world championships, the Hungarian Victor Barna ranked first with 41 medals with 22 gold, 7 silver and 12 bronze during the period between 1929 to 1954, while his compatriot Michaelus Sabados came in second place with 24 medals with 15 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze during the period between 1929 to 1937, while the Chinese came Mao Long is in third place with 19 medals with 14 gold, one silver and 4 bronze during the period between 2006 and 2024.

As for the most prominent table players, the Hungarian Maria Medianski ranked first with 28 medals with 18 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze during the period between 1926 to 1936, while Romanian Angelica Rosiano came second with 30 medals with 17 gold, 5 silver and 8 bronze during the period between 1937 and 1957, while the Chinese came Wang Nan is in third with 20 medals with 15 gold, 3 silver and two bronzes during the period between 1997 and 2008.

The World Tennis Championship is currently organizing every two years, and includes five main categories: individual men, individual women, marital men, marital women, and mixed husband.

The tournament hosted a major cities around the world, which contributed to the promotion of sport as a diplomatic bridge, and has strengthened the competitiveness between Asian and European countries, as well as that the tournament has become a platform for exchanging cultures and sports skills, which makes it more than just sports competition.

Doha will host the next version of the tournament between May 17 and 25 this year, and as the first Arab and Middle East country to organize the event, with a record participation of 640 players representing 127 countries, which makes it one of the largest copies in the history of the championship in terms of the number of participants.

Doha hosts this important sporting event for the second time after the first in 2004, within the framework of the country’s strategy to enhance its sporting position after many successes, most notably the FIFA FIFA FIFA FIFA 2022 finals.
