Trade: A deadline to reconcile the conditions of cars that do not conform to the Gulf specifications

The Ministry of Trade and Industry has announced a period of time to reconcile the situation regarding cars that do not conform to the approved Gulf specifications, extending until December 31, 2025, as part of its keenness to regulate the local market and ensure consumer rights, and in response to the desire of individuals, owners of exhibitions and electronic platforms specialized in selling cars.
The ministry indicated that during this period it is allowed to offer and sell cars that do not conform to the specifications, through exhibitions or electronic platforms, provided that the car is registered before the date of December 31, 2025, and this includes new and used cars.
The Ministry stressed that the offer or sale of any car is registered after this date, without being identical to the Gulf specifications, is an explicit violation of the law, and it is necessary to take the necessary measures against the violation entity.
This directive comes based on circular No. (02) of 2025, issued by the Ministry, which obliges the providers of electronic platforms and car exhibitions not to display or announce cars that are not identical to the specifications approved in the State of Qatar.
The Ministry stressed the necessity of all concerned authorities to completely stop selling, offering, or announcing incompatible cars after the specified deadline, and ensuring the application of circular to avoid any legal violations or consequences.
The Ministry stated that these measures aim to create a safe and organized commercial environment, and to enhance confidence between the consumer and the supplier, calling on all electronic exhibitions and platforms to fully adhere to the announced instructions.
In another context, the Ministry of Trade and Industry issued an administrative decision No. (2025/22) to close the “Naseem Al -Fajr National Foundation for Auctions” and its branches completely closure for a month, and refer them to the security authorities, due to its violation of the provisions of Article No. (7) of Law No. (8) of 2008 regarding consumer protection and executive regulations.
The closure decision came against the backdrop of an inspection campaign carried out by the Consumer Protection Department in coordination with the competent authorities within the central market in Umm Salal, where corrupt and adulterated food products (fish and marine neighborhoods) were seized, and it was proven that the Foundation changed the country of origin and blurred and amending the dates of validity, which is an explicit violation of the laws in force in the state.
The Ministry affirmed that this measure comes within the framework of its continuous efforts to protect consumer rights, ensure the safety of the products offered in the markets, and to enhance control over the violating commercial practices.
The Ministry also stressed that it will continue to intensify its inspection campaigns, and take the necessary measures against violators, calling on all citizens and residents to report any illegal violations or practices, through the call center on the number (16001), or through the official account of the ministry on social media platforms.
