Trade and Industry obliges car showrooms not to export new vehicles that have not been registered for a year

The Ministry of Trade and Industry decided to compel all commercial exhibitions to sell cars to prevent the export of new cars that were not previously registered.

The Ministry issued circular No. (3) of 2025 regarding the prevention of the export of new cars, as it obligated all commercial exhibitions to sell cars to export cars that were not previously registered with the competent authorities for a year, and the circular excluded car agents as well as cars designated for personal use of individuals.

The Ministry stated, in a statement today, that this circular comes within the framework of its efforts to protect consumer rights and ensure the meeting of their basic needs, based on the provisions of Law No. (8) of 2008 regarding consumer protection and amendments, and the executive regulations issued by the Minister of Business and Trade No. (68) of 2012 of the Consumer Protection Law.

This step aims to protect consumers by ensuring the availability of new cars in the local market in a way that balances supply and demand, and to reduce their prices unjustifically, as well as prevent any practices that may mislead the consumer, in addition to protecting commercial facilities from exposure to the penalties stipulated in the Consumer Protection Law when proving violations related to hiding goods and refraining from selling them by exporting them and emptying the market The local of the new cars offered to it.

The statement pointed out that Law No. (8) of 2008 regarding the consumer protection and its amendments determines the obligations of the suppliers and the mechanisms of their implementation in line with its provisions and executive regulations, where Article (10) of the law states that: “The provider may not hide any commodity or refrain from selling it with the intention of controlling the market price or imposing the purchase of certain quantities of it or the purchase of another commodity with it or that it receives a higher price than the price Announcing it.

He added that Article (14) of the executive regulations issued by the decision of the Minister of Business and Trade No. (68) of 2012 of the Consumer Protection Law stipulated that: “The provider is prohibited from creating an unreal or misleading impression of the consumer, especially if one or more elements of it takes the country of export.”

The Ministry stressed the need for all commercial exhibitions to sell cars concerned with the provisions of this circular in order to avoid registration of violations against them and take the necessary legal measures, explaining that the circular is working with it from the date of its issuance.

She stressed that she will deal firmly with any negligence or negligence in implementing the provisions of Law No. (8) of 2008 regarding the protection of the consumer and its executive regulations, and will intensify its inspection campaigns to ensure the extent to which those concerned with their obligations stipulated in the circular and the control of any violations in this regard, calling on all consumers to report any violations or violations.
