The European Parliament decided that platforms such as TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and other social media should only be available from the age of 16.

The majority of members of the European Parliament voted on Wednesday in favor of calling for setting a unified minimum age at the European Union level, while allowing the age group between 13 and 16 years to use these platforms, subject to the approval of their guardians.

The representatives expressed their concern about the risks to the physical and psychological health of minors online, and decided that the rules should also include video platforms and virtual companions based on artificial intelligence.

In mid-October, the leaders of the European Union countries announced their support for imposing age limits on platforms such as Tik Tok, Facebook, and others, but they refused to transfer their national powers to Brussels.
