Jassim Al Ansari, CEO of the company.. “Rail”: Appointment of a new board of directors headed by the Minister of Transport

The Board of Directors of the new Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) held its first meeting at the company’s main headquarters, headed by His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Thani, Minister of Transport, and the membership of His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz bin Nasser Al Khalifa, Vice President, His Excellency Mr. Saad bin Ali bin Saad Al-Kharji, His Excellency Engineer Abdullah bin Ali Al-Dhiyab, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Faisal Al Thani, Brigadier General Jassim Al-Bohashem Al-Sayed, and Dr. Abdulrahman Mohammed. Youssef Jolo, engineer Saad Abdulkarim Al-Qahtani, and engineer Hamad Issa Abdullah. During the meeting, the new Board of Directors announced the appointment of Engineer Jassim Mohammed Al Ansari as CEO of the company, succeeding His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Subaie.
Al-Ansari held the position of Head of the Project Delivery Sector at Rail, which he joined since January 2012. Before joining the company, he held several positions in the field of engineering management, operations management, engineering and maintenance in the Ministry of Municipality and the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), in addition to Makeen Holding. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Qatar University.
Al-Ansari’s appointment comes in succession to his predecessor, His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Subaie, who assumed the duties of Managing Director and Chairman of the Company’s Executive Committee since March 2011, where he led the responsibility of leading and directing the development of the railway sector in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030. In January 2017, His Excellency was assigned the duties of CEO in addition to his duties as Managing Director of the company, continuing the responsibilities of planning, developing and delivering Rail’s projects and managing its operational operations after the completion of Get it done.
Under his exceptional leadership, Rail was able to achieve its ambitious goals and deliver its pioneering projects committed to the highest standards of transparency and governance, and recording the best quality and performance indicators. The company also succeeded in launching the Doha Metro network service in May 2019, a year ahead of schedule.
Rail, under the leadership of His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Al Subaie, was also able to deliver the major projects assigned to it, as he supervised the delivery and operation of the Doha Metro network in its various stages, in addition to the Lusail tram network, which is one of the most modern transportation systems in the world. His Excellency also played a pivotal role in ensuring the readiness and operation of the network effectively and successfully during the major events hosted by Qatar, especially the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, where the Doha Metro contributed mainly to its success and emerged as a leading global model for the role of public transport in the success of major events.
In terms of operational excellence and quality, he led the company to obtain prestigious international certificates, most notably the Five-Star Certificate for Comprehensive Institutional Excellence from the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) in 2024, as well as many prestigious international awards and certificates in several operational fields.
In the field of sustainability and innovation, Al-Subaie directed the company to focus on integrating environmental sustainability solutions into its various projects, and adopting advanced technologies in network management, which contributed to supporting the country’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions. This is in addition to his efforts to develop the national cadres working in the company, as he worked to enhance the rate of Qatarization and qualify the Qatari cadres and ensure their development and training to lead the operational and technical operations in the various sectors of the company.
