For the first friendly match before the World Cup… Al-Anabi goes to Dublin with 28 players

The Spanish coach, Julen Lopetegui, the coach of our first national football team, announced the final list departing for the Irish capital, Dublin, which includes 28 players out of the 35 players he had chosen at the beginning of the preparatory camp held in Doha, in preparation for playing the two friendly matches against Ireland and El Salvador before participating in the 2026 World Cup finals.
The list saw the exclusion of 7 players: Bassam Al-Rawi, Sebastian Soria, Mubarak Shannan, Muhammad Waad, Niall Mason, Fahd Younis, and Tariq Salman, after the technical evaluation conducted by the technical staff during the last period of the camp, in order to settle on the elements closest to representing Annabi in the final stage of preparations for the World Cup. The list traveling today included 28 players, namely: Meshal Barshim, Mahmoud Abu Nada, Salah Zakaria, Shehab Al-Laithi, Ahmed Al-Janahi, Ahmed Alaa, Ahmed Fathi, Akram Afif, Edmilson Jr., Ayoub Al-Alawi, Sultan Al-Breik, Al-Hashemi Al-Hussein, Khoukhi Boualem, Pedro Miguel, Jassim Jaber, Hassan Al-Haydos, Al-Moez Ali, Rayan Al-Ali, Assem Madbou, Abdel Al-Aziz Hatem, Issa Lay, Mohamed Manai, Karim Boudiaf, Lucas Mendes, Tahseen Mohamed, Hammam Al-Amin, Youssef Abdel Razzaq, Mohamed Muntari, and the Annabi delegation is scheduled to leave this afternoon for Ireland, where the team will play a strong friendly match against the Irish national team “Thursday”, in its first friendly foreign experience before traveling to America to complete the preparatory program and play the second friendly match against the El Salvador national team.
Lopetegui seeks to raise readiness rates and identify the best formations and basic elements that will participate in the 2026 World Cup, especially since the two friendly matches represent the last real test before the upcoming global tournament.
