Today, Qatar Documentation House opened the “Beyond the Court: The History and Global Legacy of Basketball” exhibition, which it organizes in cooperation with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA Foundation), in Building No. (46) of the Cultural Village Foundation “Katara”, and will continue until March 27, 2027.
On its first day, the exhibition witnessed a remarkable turnout and interaction, as attendees learned about its sections, its documentary content, and its historical collections, in addition to a number of interactive experiences that it offers to visitors.
The exhibition takes visitors on a documentary journey that reviews the process of basketball over the decades, starting with the origins of the game, its spread, and the establishment of the International Basketball Federation, passing through the most prominent stages of the World Cup tournaments, its personalities and symbols, all the way to the establishment of the Qatar Basketball Association and the development of the game and its presence in the State of Qatar.
The organization of the exhibition coincides with the State of Qatar’s preparations to host the 2027 Basketball World Cup, and within the framework of highlighting the history of the game and its global legacy, and introducing the public to the most prominent stages of its development and historical milestones. It also reflects the role of the Qatar Documentation House in documenting various aspects of national memory, including sports history, preserving it and making it available to researchers and the public through modern and interactive presentation methods.
