Al-Buainain participates in "Women in Basketball Forum" In Berlin

His Excellency Mr. Jassim bin Rashid Al Buainain, Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee and Vice Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the FIBA ​​Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027, participated in the “Women in Basketball Forum”, organized by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) today, Friday, in the German capital, Berlin, with the participation of an elite group of leaders and representatives of sports, media and commercial institutions.

His Excellency participated in a discussion session entitled “Building a Legacy for the Next Generation,” which discussed the future opportunities available to basketball, ways to expand the participation of women and girls in sports, in addition to the role that Qatar’s hosting of the FIBA ​​Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027 can play in supporting the development of the game and building a sustainable legacy in Qatar and the region.

During the session, His Excellency Mr. Jassim bin Rashid Al Buainain stressed that Qatar’s hosting of the FIBA ​​Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027 represents an opportunity that goes beyond organizing a major global tournament, and contributes to enhancing the spread of this sport, encouraging future generations to practice it, and expanding the base of participation in basketball.

His Excellency said: “The importance of the FIBA ​​Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027 is not just proving Qatar’s ability to host another major sporting event, as the country has proven its ability to do so repeatedly over the past two decades. The real opportunity today lies in demonstrating what can be achieved when world-class infrastructure, expertise and innovation come together and integrate in a way that establishes a sustainable basketball legacy in the region and for the next generation.”

His Excellency stressed that the true measure of the tournament’s success goes beyond the event itself, to include the impact it leaves after the final whistle is blown, stressing the importance of building on Qatar’s infrastructure, expertise, and capabilities, and benefiting from hosting the tournament to support the basketball process in the long term, expand opportunities to participate in it, and establish a sustainable legacy for the game in Qatar, the region, and for future generations.

The “Women in Basketball Forum” examines the opportunities that shape the future of women’s basketball, through a series of sessions and discussions that address development themes in the sports system, including investment, media, public interaction, and commercial innovation, in addition to highlighting the growing role of women’s basketball in shaping the future of sports.
