The Qatar Investment Authority continued to enhance its presence in the investment map locally and internationally, based on a strategy based on diversifying assets, targeting promising sectors, and building long-term partnerships in global markets, in a way that supports achieving sustainable returns and enhancing the value of its investment portfolio.
During last August, the agency intensified its activity by concluding and participating in 3 qualitative deals that included financial markets, autonomous transportation solutions for commercial shipping, and artificial intelligence, in moves that reflect the diversity of its investment tools and its ability to seize opportunities in different sectors.
The device’s investments were divided between supporting the local financial market by investing in a Lesha Bank fund, participating in a financing round for the company “GATIC”, which specializes in autonomous transportation of commercial freight, in addition to investing in the American company “Positron AI”, which works in the field of artificial intelligence reasoning devices. These moves reflect the agency’s orientation towards combining support for the local economy and expansion into future high-growth sectors globally, as well as building partnerships with international institutions, asset managers, and technology companies.
Supporting local financial markets
On August 13, the Qatar Investment Authority announced its investment in the Lesha Qatar Equity Fund, as part of its active asset management initiative that it launched in 2024.
The initiative aims to establish partnerships with the most prominent global and local asset managers with experience in the markets of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, as the agency contributes to the founding capital of the funds managed by its partners, through reallocating shares in companies listed on the Qatar Stock Exchange.
The agency stressed that cooperation with local asset managers, including Lusha Bank, reflects its commitment to supporting the Qatari economy and enhancing its competitiveness, in addition to contributing to the continued development and diversification of local financial markets.
Logistics services sector
In the logistics services sector, the Qatar Investment Authority participated in leading a Series D financing round worth $200 million for Gatik, which specializes in autonomous transportation solutions for commercial freight, in partnership with Koch Disruptive Technologies, and with the participation of a group of investors.
The financing aims to support the company’s expansion and enhance its operations, in conjunction with the growing demand from retail, grocery and consumer goods companies for more reliable, flexible and scalable transportation solutions within supply chains.
“GATEC” operates fully self-driving trucks to transport goods between distribution centers and stores within actual customer networks in a number of American states, in addition to Canadian Ontario. The company’s contracted revenues exceeded $600 million, while it implemented more than 100,000 transportation requests using fully self-driving trucks.
Technology and artificial intelligence sector
In a step that strengthens its portfolio in the artificial intelligence sector, the device announced on August 25 its participation in a Series C financing round for the American company Positron AI worth $875 million, bringing the company’s value to $5 billion.
The participation comes as an extension of the agency’s investment in the company, after it previously participated in the Series B financing round during February 2026.
Positron AI is developing hardware and software aimed at making artificial intelligence inference processes, that is, running trained artificial intelligence models, less expensive and more energy efficient.
Diversify assets and future sectors
The three deals confirm the diversity of the investment orientations of the Qatar Investment Authority, starting from supporting and developing local financial markets, through autonomous transportation technology and supply chains, to one of the fastest growing areas of technology represented by artificial intelligence.
It also reflects the Authority’s orientation towards building a diversified long-term portfolio that combines local opportunities and global investments in sectors with future growth prospects, in a way that supports the sustainability of returns and enhances the investment presence of the State of Qatar globally.
