China launched 9 new satellites into space from the Dongfeng Commercial Space Innovation Experimental Zone in northwest China. The satellites were successfully launched today on board a Ligian-1Y18 carrier rocket, where they entered their pre-determined orbits. These satellites will be mainly used to monitor the space environment, prevent disasters and reduce their effects, and scientific and technical experiments. This launch is the 17th mission of the Lijian series of carrier rockets, developed by CAS Space, a Chinese commercial spaceflight company that has launched the largest number of satellites and the heaviest payloads in the country’s private space sector. The Lijian series has so far successfully sent one spacecraft and 121 satellites into space, with the total payload mass in orbit exceeding 21 tons, according to the company. The launch date of the “Legian-1” carrier missile has been set for the second half of 2027.
