The Network of Non-Governmental Organizations in the Gaza Strip warned on Sunday that the health system is approaching a complete halt, as a result of the restrictions imposed by the Israeli occupation authorities on the entry of supplies and supplies necessary to operate hospitals and health facilities, stressing that the health sector is on the verge of being unable to provide its basic services.
The network said, during a press conference, that the health system in Gaza is struggling to survive, and that its activities are threatened with paralysis and cessation, despite nearly a year having passed since the announcement of a ceasefire, noting the continued restrictions on humanitarian work and supplies needed for the health sector.
The network added that the restrictions include fuel, fuel, mineral oils, electric generators, solar energy systems and spare parts, in addition to medical and non-medical devices and consumables, thus threatening the ability of hospitals to continue working.
She added that these measures come after widespread targeting of the health system during the war, affecting its financial and human components, noting that 28 out of 35 hospitals in the Gaza Strip were partially or completely destroyed.
Repeatedly, the government media office in Gaza has confirmed that Israel is evading its obligations stipulated in the ceasefire agreement in effect since October 10, 2025, regarding the entry of agreed upon quantities of aid and fuel necessary for vital sectors.
Demands that electricity be restored
The network of civil society organizations called for pressure on the occupation to re-supply the Gaza Strip with electricity and reconnect the lines feeding the Strip, which it said the occupation had stopped since the beginning of the war on October 7, 2023.
It also called for lifting the restrictions imposed under the pretext of “dual use” on medical and non-medical supplies and consumables necessary to operate the remainder of the health system.
The network demanded that a mechanism be found to ensure the entry of electric generators, solar energy systems, spare parts, medical devices, and all the necessary supplies for the continued work of the health sector.
The network called for the establishment of a new mechanism for the medical evacuation of patients who need treatment outside the Gaza Strip, warning that thousands of patients are at risk of losing their lives as a result of the procedures and restrictions imposed on referring them for treatment outside the Gaza Strip.
The network expressed its thanks to the State of Qatar and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) for their response to the health sector’s calls regarding the crisis, calling on the United Nations General Assembly and humanitarian institutions to take serious steps to ensure the implementation of the understandings contained in the ceasefire declaration as the minimum required to guarantee the human dignity of the civilian population in the Gaza Strip.
