Al Jazeera Net- The World Health Organization revealed yesterday, Monday, that Pakistan records 675 deaths daily among newborns and 27, as for preventive complications, and called on international and local partners to urgently invest in reducing this large number.

In the numbers announced on the occasion of the International Day of Health, which falls on April 7 of each year, the organization recorded that the total maternity of newborns per year is 246 thousand and 300 infants, at a time when the rate in the ranks of mothers 9800, as well as 190,000 fetus generates dead.

The representative of the World Organization in Pakistan said that every country needs mothers and children with healthy health and body to build a prosperous future, stressing that avoiding deaths among mothers and births “is possible if we intensify our efforts.”

He stressed that the World Health Organization stands with Pakistan to protect the health of children and their mothers, regardless of their identity or places of residence, considering that the death of one mother or one baby is too more than necessary and the cost of failure to work is much greater than the cost of taking the necessary measures.

Significant progress

The same official considered that spending on the health of the mother and the child is an investment in human capital, and not a cost, highlighting that this investment leads to economic development and building healthier and happier societies.

The same data indicated that Pakistan has made remarkable progress over the years, as the maternal mortality rate has declined from 276 deaths per 100,000 live births in 2006 to 155 in 2024, while the rate of newborns fell from 52 per 1,000 live births in 2006 to 37 in 2024, while the rate of birth of the dead fools decreased from 39.8 per 1000 births in 2000 To 27.5 in 2024.

However, the same organization recorded, despite the progress, the existence of an urgent need for investment in order to achieve the sustainable development goals by 2030, which includes reducing the maternal mortality rate to 70 deaths per 100,000 live births, and reducing birth rates to 12 deaths per 1,000 births.
