The Captain Saeed Al-Misnad Futsal League, may God have mercy on him, kicked off yesterday in its second edition, which continues until the 18th of this month in the Qatari Federation Hall at Al-Wakrah Club, with the participation of 10 teams, namely the Varden Academy, Sport Dome, Sununu, the Police Federation, Qatar University, Al Shaqab, Al-Wakrah, Al-Jasra, Al-Nasr, and Annabi Stadium. A number of prominent figures attended the opening, including His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Fahd Al Thani, Vice President of Al-Wakra Club, His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Khalid Al Thani, CEO of Al Sadd Club, and Hani Talib Ballan, CEO of the Qatar Stars League, along with a number of other figures. The opening ceremony yesterday witnessed special segments, and the master of the ceremony was Misfer Farhan Al Hababi, Chairman of the Media Committee and official spokesman for the Captain’s League, where a friendly match was held between the veteran players of the national team whom the late coached, amid a wonderful and distinguished atmosphere.

Muhammad Saeed Al-Misnad, Chairman of the Championship Organizing Committee, expressed his happiness at the launch of the Captain’s Championship competitions in its second edition, which is held as an initiative in loyalty to Captain Saeed Al-Misnad, as the idea was greatly welcomed, indicating that the organizing committee made every effort to present it in the best possible way.
He explained that the organizing committee contributed greatly to the completion of the tournament in the desired manner, expressing his great happiness with the opening atmosphere and the large presence of the colleagues of the late Captain Saeed Al-Misnad, as well as the fans who were keen to attend in large numbers.
Mohammed Al-Misnad, Chairman of the Championship Organizing Committee, thanked His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Minister of Sports and Youth and President of the Qatar Football Association, and also thanked the Qatar Football Association and all partners and sponsors for their role in organizing the second edition.

He said: “We are very happy to hold the second edition of the Captain Saeed Al-Misnad Futsal League in Al-Wakrah Club Hall, and we consider it a wonderful tournament that carries great value, as it commemorates one of the sons of Qatar who gave a lot to Qatari football, and had a prominent role in serving and developing sports, and Saeed Al-Misnad, may God have mercy on him, was a sports figure dear to everyone.”

Enhancing an exceptional personal status
Hani Taleb Ballan, CEO of the Qatar Stars League, confirmed that holding the second edition of the Captain Saeed Al-Misnad League strengthens a personal status that has given a lot to Qatari football.
He said: “The captain, may God have mercy on him, not only influenced the technical level of football with his morals and value, but also played a major role in guiding the referees. He was in the position of a father, also considering that he was very close to the father, and whenever we met, he strengthened the street’s confidence in the Qatari government.
