Al-Mawlawi: Qatar Airways flights to Hamburg support Qatar Tourism Vision 2030

Eng. Abdulaziz Ali Al Mawlawi, CEO of Visit Qatar, participated in the launch of Qatar Airways’ new route to Hamburg, Germany, on July 1.

During the dinner held on this occasion, Eng. Abdulaziz Al Mawlawi highlighted the importance of the new route to and from Germany, as it contributes to enhancing Qatar’s Tourism Vision 2030, which focuses on 15 key markets.
Since the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the number of German visitors to Qatar has increased from 30,000 to 160,000 annually. By May 2024, the number of German visitors this year has reached 92,000, demonstrating Qatar’s growing appeal to European travelers.
This new flight route will also enhance the attraction of more visitors from Hamburg and beyond to enjoy the unique offerings and rich culture that Qatar offers its visitors.
Qatar Airways launched direct flights to Hamburg, its fifth destination in Germany, after Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich, further strengthening its contribution to meeting the growing demand for travel to Germany. The world’s best airline according to Skytrax 2024, also saw a 62 per cent increase in the number of passengers departing from Germany in 2023 compared to the previous year.
The new flights to Hamburg will strengthen Qatar Airways’ network of more than 170 destinations worldwide, and will allow passengers from northern Germany to connect to various parts of the world via Doha. In addition, Qatar Airways’ new flights will contribute to providing a seamless travel experience for passengers from around the world to Hamburg.
The launch of this new route will also contribute to strengthening economic and trade relations between Northern Germany and Asia, Africa and the Middle East. The flights are expected to achieve an 11 percent growth in the air cargo sector in Hamburg compared to last year.
