An exciting start to the Federation Cup for track and field

The Federation Cup track and field championship competitions for men and youth categories were launched at Al Rayyan Club, amid wide participation from all the clubs under the banner of the Qatari Federation, and strong competition in various races and competitions, within the championship organized by the Federation within the framework of the local season competitions after the resumption of activity following a short pause due to the current war conditions in the region.
The first day of the tournament witnessed remarkable technical levels among the players, in light of the great convergence in performance between the participating clubs, which was reflected in the strength of competition in the track and field competitions, as the players sought to record the best numbers and achieve first places at the beginning of the tournament.
Abdul Rahman Hawam, a player for Al Rayyan Club, was able to win first place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase race for youth, with a time of 9:02.51 minutes, while Abdul Ghafour Qaddad, a player for Al Ahly Club, came in second place with a time of 9:22.89 minutes, and Mahamat Baher, a player for Al Arabi Club, came third with a time of 9:44.43 minutes.
In the 5,000-meter race for youth, Yasser Youssef, a Al-Sadd Club player, succeeded in achieving first place with a time of 14:04.93 minutes, while Abdullah Abdul Karim, a Qatar Club player, came in second place with a time of 14:59.45 minutes, and Hamza Saifi, a Al-Ahly Club player, came in third place with a time of 15:46.99 minutes.
The 100-meter race for youth also witnessed strong competition in speed races, as Faroqi Aman, a player from Al-Ahly Club, achieved first place with a time of 10.47 seconds, while Atef Abdullah, a player from Al-Gharafa Club, came in second place with a time of 11.19 seconds, and Haroun Kamra, a player from Al-Wakrah Club, came in third place with a time of 11.57 seconds.
In the 110-meter hurdles race for youth, Mohamed Rabeh, a player from Al-Rayyan Club, was able to win first place with a time of 15.06 seconds, while Youssef Issa, a player with Al-Arabi Club, came in second place with a time of 15.09 seconds, and Saleh Haroun, a player with Al-Ahly Club, came in third place with a time of 15.97 seconds.
In the 400-meter race for youth, the club players continued to perform strongly, as Jassim Majed, the Al-Ahly club player, won first place with a time of 50.13 seconds, while Youssef Jibreen Hassan, the Al-Arabi club player, came in second place with a time of 51.01 seconds, and Mohamed Zakaria Musa, the Qatar Club player, came in third place with a time of 53.02 seconds.
As for the 1,500-meter race for youth, Abdul Nour Al-Salhi, a Qatar Club player, succeeded in occupying first place with a time of 3:54.73 minutes, while Mohamed Mazen, a Al-Rayyan Club player, came in second place with a time of 3:57.89 minutes, and Ayoub Ismail, a Al-Sadd Club player, came in third place with a time of 4:29.18 minutes.
In the field competitions, Omar Ali Shanan, the Al-Ahly club player, won first place in the men’s pole vault competition after recording a height of 4.90 metres, while Mohammed Salman Ahmed, the Al-Arabi club player, came in second place with a height of 4.20 metres, and Jabr Khalifa Abdullah, the Al-Arabi club player, came in third place with a height of 3.80 metres.
The men’s hammer toss competition also witnessed Khalil Adel, the Al-Ahly club player, winning first place after scoring 63.46 metres, while his teammate Ahmed Amjad came in second place with a distance of 62.87 metres, and Ahmed Amer, the Al-Rayyan club player, came third with a distance of 41.32 metres. In the men’s long jump competition, Mohammed Munir Suleiman, the Al-Ahly Club player, won first place after scoring 7.10 metres, while Ammar Issa Bakr, the Al-Arabi Club player, came in second place with a distance of 6.83 metres, and Abdul Rahman Abu Bakr Mohammed, the Al-Khor Club player, came in third place with a distance of 6.70 metres.
The first day’s competitions concluded with the men’s javelin throwing competition, which witnessed Radwan Ahmed, the Al-Ahly club player, winning first place with a distance of 58.25 metres, while Omar Suleiman, the Al-Rayyan club player, came in second place with a distance of 56.02 metres, and Mohammed Irshad, the Al-Gharafa club player, came in third place with a distance of 54.94 metres.
The championship competitions continued on its second day with another set of races and finals, before the curtain came down on the championship with a coronation ceremony, amid more excitement and competition between clubs and players.
