Excessive drinking of coffee, fruit juices and carbonated drinks increases the risk of stroke

Recent scientific studies have revealed that excessive consumption of coffee, fruit juices, and carbonated drinks – which are liquids in which carbon dioxide is dissolved, such as soda, diet drinks, and sparkling water – increases the risk of strokes.

The series of studies conducted at the University of Galway in Ireland and McMaster University in Canada and published in the scientific journal “Stroke Journal” included tens of thousands of people from 27 countries.

One study – reported by the website “Health Day”, which specializes in medical research – found that excessive consumption of carbonated drinks – whether sweetened with natural or artificial sugar – leads to an increased risk of strokes by 22%, while fruit juice products lead to Increased risk of strokes caused by brain hemorrhage by 37%, especially among women.

The researchers found that fruit juice products contain sugars and preservatives that are harmful to health, and they advised drinking more than 7 cups of water per day to reduce the risk of strokes caused by brain clots.

The researchers advised avoiding the consumption of carbonated drinks and juice products, and drinking water as an alternative.

Another study found that drinking more than 4 cups of coffee per day increases the risk of strokes by 37%, while drinking 3 or 4 cups of black or green tea significantly reduces the risk of strokes.

The researchers pointed out that high blood pressure is considered one of the most important factors that increase the risk of strokes, but these risks can be reduced by adhering to a healthy diet and practicing physical exercise.
