The Mexican Football Federation announced the dismissal of Jaime Lozano from coaching the national team, after the team was eliminated from the group stage of the 2024 Copa America.
The Mexican federation said it offered Lozano the chance to continue as an assistant until the 2026 World Cup, before returning to the role of head coach until 2030, but the coach rejected the offer.
Mexico will co-host the 2026 World Cup with Canada and the United States.
Lozano led Mexico to the 2023 Gold Cup title and reached the CONCACAF Nations League final earlier this year, before losing to the United States.
The coach, who spent only one year in his position, achieved 10 wins, four draws and seven defeats during his tenure as coach of the Mexican national team.
The Argentine national team won the Copa America 2024 title, after defeating its Colombian counterpart in the final match by one goal to nil, to win the continental title for the second time in a row and the 16th in its history.
