The Ministry of Transport organized an inspection and control campaign on marine vehicles, in cooperation with the relevant authorities represented by the Ministry of Interior (General Department of Coast Security), the Ministry of Municipality, and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.
The campaign, which was implemented at Al Wakra Port, aimed to ensure that marine transport vehicles meet maritime safety requirements and the legal requirements of the parties participating in the campaign.
The Ministry’s maritime transport specialists inspected the marine safety and security equipment and tools in these vessels to ensure their availability and validity, in addition to ensuring that marine vessel drivers adhere to marine safety instructions in accordance with the provisions of applicable laws and decisions.
This campaign comes within the framework of the Ministry’s keenness to preserve lives and property to enhance the safety of maritime navigation in Qatari waters.
The Ministry of Transport requires owners and drivers of all types of marine vehicles to ensure that they have a valid registration certificate, clear vehicle numbers, and provide marine security and safety equipment and tools to carry out their work, noting that legal measures will be taken against violations of these procedures and controls.
The Ministry had opened a marine media registration office at Doha Port to provide registration and renewal services, transfer ownership, and issue all certificates for small vessels as part of its plans to enhance services provided to the public in the maritime transport sector by expanding external marine media registration offices, with the aim of bringing services closer to the public and facilitating their access to them.
In addition to enhancing the integration of services at Doha Port, which is considered the country’s maritime tourist front and one of the most important landmarks of tourism in the maritime sector.
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Transport is making every effort to facilitate its services provided to the public, as it provides more than 28 electronic services for small and large ships. Work is underway to develop and automate all services for marine vehicles, large ships, marine certificates and licenses, in addition to creating an electronic application for all marine transactions and services provided to the public, ship owners and marine companies.
The Ministry of Transport also provides registration offices for marine vehicles in both Al Khor and Al Ruwais, in addition to the main office at the Ministry’s headquarters.
