QTerminals has announced that it has been officially certified as a company with sustainability targets by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). Science-based targets provide companies with a clearly defined path to reducing emissions in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement, with over 6,000 companies worldwide already working with SBTi.
This step comes after QTerminals obtained accreditation from the Science Based Targets Initiative on August 5.
QTerminals is also the first in the Gulf and the third in Asia to obtain the Science Based Targets Initiative accreditation within the maritime transport sector (ports and services), as it pledges to implement its goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions from its direct operations (scopes 1 and 2) by 46.6% by 2030 compared to 2021, in line with the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
QTerminals is a leading global port and terminal operator and management company providing container, bulk, breakbulk, ro-ro and livestock handling services, as well as marine and cruise supply services.
QTerminals Group’s portfolio includes four business units: Hamad Port in Qatar, the flagship port of QTerminals Group; QTerminals Antalya Port in Turkey; QTerminals Kramer Rotterdam Port in the Netherlands; and QTerminals Olvia Port in Ukraine.
