In the context of its continuous endeavor to consolidate the pillars of transparency and enhance tax compliance, the General Tax Authority referred 13 companies to the Public Prosecution, after its involvement was proven in tax evasion cases, with a total value of approximately 36 million Qatari riyals. The referral of these companies, which was monitored during the first half of 2025, came to the relevant authorities after investigations by the competent departments in the General Tax Authority in coordination with the concerned authorities in the country, and revealed clear tax violations, including the concealment of these companies for their real income.
This procedure comes as a commitment from the General Tax Authority to the Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to achieve financial stability by enhancing the efficiency of the tax system and ensuring the commitment of all economic entities to its responsibilities, which would contribute to protecting public resources and achieving tax justice. Addressing tax evasion practices is also part of the efforts to diversify income sources, by developing an effective and sustainable financial system that supports economic diversification and enhances the state’s ability to finance comprehensive development projects and achieve balanced economic growth.
In this context, the General Tax Authority clarified that the companies that were referred to the Public Prosecution are companies registered in the country, and the necessary measures have been taken against them in accordance with the provisions of the Income Tax Law issued by Law No. 24 of 2018, which criminalizes fraud and evading the payment of the tax.
Accordingly, the General Tax Authority calls on all those charged with the need to adhere to providing tax declarations with transparency and accuracy in the legally prescribed dates, noting that it will continue its efforts in combating tax evasion, which is considered one of the financial violations that negatively affects the national economy, and the application of tax laws fairly to everyone, in a way that enhances the business environment and the efforts of sustainable development in the State of Qatar.
Through its various departments, the General Tax Authority continues to seek to increase the culture of voluntary commitment and enhance the community’s confidence in the tax system in order to raise compliance rates and reduce evasion cases in order to prevent legal accountability.
