The German Cancer Research Center said that the tongue cancer is a malignant tumor that arises in the cells of the tongue, indicating that cancer that affects the two -thirds of the tongue is more common than cancer that affects the back -third of the tongue.
The center pointed out that the causes leading to tongue cancer are smoking and drinking alcohol, and that human papilloma viruses play an important role in the incidence of tongue cancer.
Risk factors also include excessive eating of meat and fried foods and neglecting oral hygiene, as well as aging.
Symptoms of tongue cancer
Symptoms of oral cancer are:
- The color of the tongue changed to white
- Chewing and swallowing difficulties
- Swelling in the tongue
- Ulcers in the tongue
- Bleeding in the mouth
- Loss of sensation in the mouth
- Unpleasant relief from the mouth
- Anorexia
- Unjustified weight loss
- Constant fatigue and decline in the ability to make an effort
A doctor should be consulted as soon as these symptoms should be observed to undergo timely treatment, which includes surgical removal, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, in addition to rebuilding the tongue.
