The Ministry of Commerce and Industry confirms the readiness of Al Sailiya Central Market in preparation for the start of the local agricultural season

The Permanent Committee to Supervise the Management of Central Markets inspected the readiness of the Sailiya Central Market in preparation for the start of the local agricultural season, as part of its efforts to monitor the level of operational and service preparations, and support farmers and local agricultural producers, in a way that contributes to enhancing food security, market stability, and meeting the needs of consumers.
The Ministry of Trade and Industry confirmed, in a statement today, that the field visit included reviewing the readiness of market facilities and support services for marketing and supply operations, and determining the level of preparations to receive the agricultural season, ensuring the smooth flow of product circulation and accommodating market needs during the coming period.
She indicated that the committee monitored the availability of vegetables and fruits and the diversity of their sources, in addition to identifying the needs of farmers and market workers, and examining ways to support the local agricultural product and enhance farmers’ benefit from the central market system, in a way that supports the sustainability of the agricultural sector and contributes to enhancing food security.
She pointed out that the committee was briefed during the visit on the level of operational services and facilities in the market, including cleaning, maintenance and organization, and the measures taken to provide a suitable environment for sellers and shoppers, in addition to monitoring the most prominent operational challenges and discussing appropriate solutions to address them.
The committee stressed the importance of continuous field monitoring of the level of readiness of central markets, and enhancing coordination and cooperation between the various concerned parties, in a way that supports the development of the central market system and raises its efficiency, and enhances its ability to provide agricultural and food products continuously and with appropriate quality.
This visit comes within the framework of the keenness of the Permanent Committee to Supervise the Management of Central Markets to monitor the performance of the markets and raise the level of their readiness, in a way that enhances the efficiency of the supply and marketing system, supports the national product, and contributes to achieving market stability and meeting the needs of consumers.
