Under the slogan “Health for All”, the State of Qatar is heading towards 2030, putting in its eyes to achieve excellence in providing comprehensive health for all the residents of the State of Qatar, which represents a new stage in the march of achieving Qatar National Vision 2030 and the third national development strategy (2024-2030) in order to provide a long health life for the current generation and future generations.
Last year, 2024 did not pass, except that all public health sector institutions (the Ministry of Public Health, Hamad Medical Corporation, and the Primary Health Care Corporation) launched its health strategies 2024-2030 in order to ensure that the health needs of the population are met according to the best standards, in addition to achieving excellence and that the State of Qatar has the highest level of life.
The State of Qatar works through the third national health strategy to achieve a number of goals related to healthcare, including increasing the average life expectancy to 82.6 years, reducing the death rate due to non -infectious diseases by 36%, lowering infants to two per thousand live births, and increasing the percentage of those who practice 150 minutes of physical activity per week.
Mrs. Hoda Amer Al -Kathiri, Director of the Department of Strategic Planning, Performance and Innovation at the Ministry of Public Health of the Qatar News Agency (Qena), said that the State of Qatar continues its efforts to develop its health sector and enhance the health and welfare of its residents through the National Health Strategy 2024-2030, which represents an ambitious vision aimed at achieving a comprehensive health system that keeps pace with the latest developments, and is based on clinical excellence, sustainability, and innovation.
She added that the strategy comes as a continuation of the successes of the previous strategy (2018 – 2022) and in line with health priorities in the national development strategy 2024-2030, in the framework of achieving Qatar National Vision 2030 that seeks to build a healthy society that has high quality of life.
The National Health Strategy 2024 – 2030 seeks to improve the health of individuals, ensure a longer and more quality life, by focusing on the physical, psychological and social aspects of health, and enshrines efforts to create an environment in which society participates in achieving health and luxury goals, and enhancing preventive and treatment interventions to reduce the spread of diseases and improve health care quality.
Ms. Hoda Al -Kathiri indicated that the strategy depends on an integrated approach that aims to achieve the highest clinical standards, while ensuring the sustainability of financial and environmental resources for future generations.
Local research and development
The goals of the strategy also include increasing local research and development, adopting innovative solutions, reducing non -infectious diseases, unifying patients ’paths, completely healthy system, and focusing on the transition centers, which are a pivotal component in the health system, as it works to qualify patients and help them to move from the stage of treatment in hospitals to home or community care, which enhances the role of rehabilitation services and contributes to improving the quality of patients’ life and accelerating their recovery.
The Director of the Department of Strategic Planning, Performance and Innovation at the Ministry of Public Health explained that the aspirations of the national health strategy are manifested in a set of priorities that seek to achieve a radical transformation in the health system, foremost of which is improving the health and welfare of the population, where the focus is on raising health awareness and enabling individuals to adopt more healthy lifestyles, while promoting prevention and early detection of diseases.
The state also seeks to enhance the concept of “health in all sectors”, by integrating public health in various national policies to ensure integration between different sectors, which reflects positively on the health of society. As for the level of health services, the strategy seeks to achieve excellence in providing care and improving patient experience, by developing integrated care models that include all stages of treatment, starting with prevention, through treatment and rehabilitation, to community and extended community care.
The focus will also be on improving the quality of primary and societal care, and expanding the scope of services provided in hospitals and specialized centers, to ensure that all the population gets advanced health services that meet their needs efficiently and quickly.
Within its efforts to enhance the flexibility and sustainability of the health system, the strategy pays special attention to developing governance systems and enhancing transparency in managing the health sector, as well as adopting a health financing model that guarantees the sustainability of the services provided. The next stage will also witness a wide digital transformation in the health sector, where digital solutions will be implemented to provide new health care models, enhance the patient’s experience, and increase practical efficiency to the maximum extent, in addition to that, the focus will be on developing a unified database that contributes to making health decisions based on scientific evidence and accurate analyzes.
