A new study revealed that women are more likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease than men, due to the accumulation of a toxic protein in their brains more than males.

The study was conducted by researchers from Harvard University in Boston, the United States, and its results were published in the journal “Jama Neurology” on March 3.

Previous studies indicated that women are more likely to develop Alzheimer’s men, and this was believed to be because they lived for a longer period, and that age is the largest risk factor for the disease.

The study showed that women who have already accumulated a single toxin protein called amyloid in the brain.

Large blocks of both protein can form plaques and tangles, and this is believed to be the cause of symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, the main cause of dementia.

Women’s response to medicines supports results

Experts pointed out that the results of the research may affect the experiences of humans to test new drugs for Alzheimer’s disease. It has already been found that the Lecanemab, which slowed the disease by up to 27% in experiments, was less effective in women.

Licanmab works by stimulating the immune system in the body to remove the accumulation of harmful protein amyloid in the brains of people with Alzheimer’s disease at an early stage.

The study showed that women who have higher levels of amyloid have accumulated levels higher than the Tau protein faster than men in parts of the brain such as the lower temporal dandruff and side occipital areas.

These are the brain areas that participate in visual treatment and memory, which means that these women are at increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease.

The authors of the study believe that hormonal changes associated with menopause can be behind these levels higher than Tau in women.
