Video sharing platform YouTube is testing a Sleep Timer feature that allows users to pause video playback if they plan to fall asleep while watching content, and it is available for a limited time.
The company said on its website that the new feature allows setting a timer to automatically shut down after a certain period of time.
The company pointed out how to operate the Sleep Timer, explaining that its use is very simple, and users can open the YouTube app on their smartphones or the web on phones or desktops and then go to the settings menu, where the Sleep Timer feature displays options to pause playback after 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes and 60 minutes, and there is also an option to automatically stop playback after the video ends.
The feature will currently be available to YouTube Premium users only.
It’s worth noting that the company is also testing a new Gemini-powered AI tool that will allow content creators to create video outlines based on text prompts, as well as video title and thumbnail suggestions.
