Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) announced that it won the Excellence in Sustainability Award in the Sustainable Public Transport category within the Excellence in Sustainability Awards 2026 organized by the Gulf Organization for Research and Development (GORD).
The company confirmed, in a post on its official account on the “X” platform, that this achievement strengthens its record in the field of sustainability and reflects its firm commitment to applying the best environmental practices and supporting sustainable national development goals.
Qatar Rail indicated that the award represents appreciation for its continuous efforts in developing a modern and sustainable public transportation system in the State of Qatar, through operating and managing transportation networks that contribute to promoting sustainable transportation, reducing carbon emissions, and supporting the shift towards more efficient and environmentally friendly modes of transportation.
The company added that this award reflects the vital role played by public transport projects in the country, especially the metro and tram networks, in supporting Qatar’s vision aimed at building smart and sustainable cities and improving the quality of life for residents and visitors. Qatar Rail’s win of the award confirms its position as one of the leading entities in the field of sustainable transport at the regional level, and its role in supporting national efforts aimed at achieving sustainability goals and enhancing the efficiency of the public transport system in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
