The 11th local dates festival attracts more than 19 thousand visitors within 3 days

The local dates festival exhibition in its eleventh session, organized by the Ministry of Municipality and the management of Souq Waqif, achieved a large turnout due to the importance of the national agricultural product, with a number of visitors reaching 19,500 visitors, with a total sales of 41,000 kilograms, distributed among a number of local varieties during the past three days.

The Ministry of Municipality stated in a statement today that the Khalas date variety topped the list of sales at 17,000 kilograms, followed by the shishi date and Al-Khunaizi dates at 8.3,000 kilograms each, then the Barhi date and other types at 4.2,000 kilograms each.

114 farms producing dates, in addition to 11 seasonal fruit farms, are participating in the festival, providing visitors with a wide variety of local agricultural products.

Organizing the local dates festival comes within the framework of the efforts of the Ministry of Municipality aimed at supporting the national agricultural sector, enhancing the marketing of local products, and encouraging consumers to purchase Qatari dates, which contributes to achieving food security and supporting agricultural sustainability.

The festival receives visitors in the eastern square of Souq Waqif daily from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm from Sunday to Thursday, and from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Friday and Saturday, and continues until August 10, 2026.
