A scientific study predicted that the rates of cancer infection among men will increase by 84% worldwide by the year 2050, and that the rates of death from cancer among men will increase by 93% during the same period.

The study, published in the scientific journal Cancer, which specializes in cancer research, monitored an increase in cancer rates among men aged 65 years or older, as well as in countries with a decline in the Human Development Index, which is the index that measures the progress of each country in the field of health awareness and living standards in general.
“We need to combine efforts at the local and international levels to reduce current cancer rates and address the expected increase in the cancer burden by 2050,” said Habtamu Mele, lead researcher at the University of Queensland, Australia.
The research team relied on data from the Global Cancer Observatory, analyzing more than 30 different types of cancer in 185 countries around the world in order to reach these predictions.
“Expanding the healthcare umbrella, supporting the health infrastructure, establishing medical colleges with government funding, and providing scientific grants in the field of health can improve cancer treatment,” Milli added in statements reported by the website “Health Day”, which specializes in scientific research.
Factors that increase the risk of cancer
The World Health Organization says that there are certain factors that increase the risk of cancer in general, such as pollution, smoking, alcohol consumption, and obesity. However, the study team said that there are other factors that increase the risk of cancer in men in particular, such as not adhering to precautionary measures to prevent the disease, not undergoing regular examinations for early detection, or adhering to treatment plans in the event of cancer.
