A German study revealed that the combination of two specific workers may be significantly effective in reducing the risk of cancer.
The study, conducted by researchers from the University of Regensburg in Germany, which included more than 315,000 participants, stated that the combination of exercise and the maintenance of a healthy weight can be a strong weapon against cancer compared to relying only on one of them.
The researchers compared the people who adhered to the World Health Organization’s instructions regarding the ocean of the waist and the levels of physical activity with those who did not abide by these instructions.
The World Health Organization recommends a moderate physical activity for 150 to 300 minutes per week, a strong activity for 75 to 150 minutes, or a mixture of the two.
Examples of moderate activity include: brisk walking (at a speed of 4 miles per hour or faster), homework, or bike riding at a speed of 10 – 12 miles per hour, while strong activity includes running at a speed of 6 miles per hour or more, or playing football, Or basketball, or tennis.
During a follow -up on an average of 11 years, approximately 30,000 people were injured in cancer.
The researchers found that people who did not adhere to the waist circumference instructions increased the risk of cancer by 11%, even if they exercise regularly.
As for people who did not commit to the instructions of physical activity, they increased the risks by 4%, even if they enjoy a healthy weight, and the failure to adhere to both guidance increased the risk of cancer by 15%.
The research team said: “The commitment to the guidelines of the World Health Organization for the waist and physical activity is necessary to prevent cancer, as following only one of them is not enough.”
The director of research and policy in the World Cancer Research Fund, Dr. Helen Crocker, stressed that these results show the importance of following a comprehensive lifestyle instead of focusing on only one factor.
She said: “Maintaining a healthy weight, especially a waist circumference within the recommended levels, and practicing physical activity, as well as following a healthy diet, are decisive steps to reduce the risk of cancer.”
She explained that people can start with small and sustainable changes, such as integrating regular movement into the daily routine or choosing healthy food options, stressing that these gradual adjustments can make a big difference over time.
