The State of Qatar participated in the fifth meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Cybersecurity of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, which was held recently in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The delegation of the State of Qatar was headed by His Excellency Engineer Abdul Rahman bin Ali Al Farahid Al Malki, Head of the National Cybersecurity Agency.
During the meeting, the joint Gulf frameworks for cybersecurity were approved, and the holding of the sixth and seventh Gulf cyber exercises was approved. The committee was also briefed on the latest developments in the implementation of the initiatives of the executive plan for the Gulf strategy for cybersecurity, and the exceptional efforts and measures of the Gulf Cooperation Council in the field of cybersecurity during the current situation in the region.
The Ministerial Committee for Cybersecurity in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries approved the Gulf guidelines for cybersecurity and data protection, approved upcoming cyber exercises, and reviewed developments in the implementation of the Gulf Cybersecurity Strategy 2024-2028.
The meeting witnessed the adoption and discussion of a number of topics, most notably the approval of the basic indicative Gulf controls for cybersecurity, in addition to the approval of the indicative Gulf controls for cybersecurity of data.
The meeting also included the approval of holding the sixth Gulf cyber exercise with the participation of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the years 2026 and 2027.
The meeting also witnessed a review of developments in the implementation of the Executive Plans Initiative for the Gulf Cybersecurity Strategy 2024-2028, within the framework of enhancing Gulf cooperation and coordination in the field of cybersecurity, and raising the level of readiness and ability to confront the increasing cyber challenges and risks.
